Has anybody ever taken down one of those big Maas freighters on which the pods scan as "unknown?" If so, what's in them. Judging from the escort, it should be something valuable.

Those pods can contain lots of goodies! Shooting them will make them either explode or release their cargo... I've found lots of gatling and heavy PBCs later in the game...

Also handy is to nearly destroy them, wait for a cargo to come near, and let it explode to get the freighter's cargo...:D

The only thing better than EOC is a Z3 M Coupe with quad neutron PBCs! Great for caravan passing or people with high beams on...

Yes, those pods can contain lots of goodies. It seems to depend alot on where the megafrieghter was generated. Some jump points have megafreighters loaded with raw sewage (probably to annoy pirates and keep you away from more important things), but others can contain all sorts of useful stuff. In general though, if you take a megafrieghter and the pods have nothing but raw sewage and recovered meat, don't bother taking on anymore megafrieghters at that l-point - you'll just get more raw sewage.

Occasionally, I've gotten some strange results from megafrieghters by interdicting them at long distances then jumping out and raiding them. At the very least, megafrieghters at 100+ km seem to have different cargo then megafrieghters coming through or going into an l-point.

Of course, I blow up megafrieghters habitually. Not because of the valuable cargo, but because quad cutting beams on salvo mode rips a megafrieghter to pieces in short order. Especially fun is waiting by an l-point exit for a megafrieghter, unloading the moment one comes through, then watching it blow up - a pleasure which is of course, magnified all the more when the second megafrieghter exits the gate, crashing into the burning wreck of the first one and exploding with it in a glorious fireball. And half the time, the escorts don't have a clue what happened.

Heh, heh. Love it. Thanks

Are your sensors faulty? It looks dangerous out there.
