Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos - NoCD Patch (2023-11-12)

This patch updates all current digital releases and the retail CD/DVD version of "Edge of Chaos: Independence War 2" and removes the "Please Insert Play Disk" message that shows up when you don't have any (real or virtual) CD drives present in your system.

On the retail release, please make sure your game has been updated to version F14.6 before you apply this patch. Applying it on older versions won't work.

Thanks to DUCK for creating the original NoCD patch and to Stone-D for fixing it up to remove the check for a physical drive.

Manual Installation

This patch only changes a few bytes in the igame.dll file. If you'd like to do this manually by using a hex editor instead of this automatic patching tool, get the DUCK NoCD patch from somewhere (while it's officially bundled with the Steam and GOG releases, it's technically still warez and we're not allowed to tell you where to get it).

Open DUCK's igame.dll file with a hex editor and look for:
74 45 8B 3D
There's only one occurrence. Replace 45 with 3C.

Then copy the igame.dll file into the bin/release folder of the game, overwriting the old file.
