Stuck on act 3 miss 9 (getting the antimatter)

Ok there probably is a very obvious solution to this but bear with me. Protecting the carrier is not a problem but how are you supposed to re energize the carrier. Ain't no stations around, smart mouth fix everything guy is quiet when he is really needed, I can't dock to an antimatter pod to see if I can divert power somehow & I can't figure how to use my engineering screen to share power with the carrier. I'm lost on this one. Help would be appreciated.

Dock your wingmen. It takes two to stabilize the containment, three to charge it. However, without the wingmen it is hard to protect the freighter...

Dock the wingmen to the freighter. You don't need them for fighting.
The marauders start their attack with a volley of missiles from far away. Let them come in and destroy all of them with one LDSI (!) - targeting the freighter is assumed.
Now start your own missile attack to atract their attention and they'll turn towards you. Give'em a warm welcome with your pbc's or the weapons of your choice...
