Hi

I'm an Iwar series fan. I think that it's the best Sci fi game I have never seen...

But Now I have found information about X2: The threat, from Egosoft, and I wonder if it's worth to buy. The game features looks amazing, but it could only be marketing. What do you think?. Is X2 near Iwar or Iwar 2?.

Here's a (lengthy) discussion of it at the INA by fellow I-War fans. That may help.

This was no disciplined march; it was a stampede-- without order and without a goal, six million people unarmed and unprovisioned, driving headlong. It was the beginning of the rout of Civilisation... of the massacre of Mankind."

My impression of it so far, and I haven't got that far, is it is a trading game that uses a relatively complex model. Yes it looks quite pretty, it has a plot, and it has been set in space, but as far as I am concerned that is where it falls down. Space is divided into populated cubes which are about 50km a side and you use jump gates between them. For me this is a cop out for a game set in space and grates every time I try to play the game to discover its better points. An example, the second ship you are given has a decent cargo capacity but is a bit slow, top speed 40m/s this means that to travel 30kms takes ages even with 10x time acceleration. Oh how you will miss thruster overide and LDS.

It's been called 21st century elite, but I think we know which game deserves that comparison.

I'm reading the post from Atari and the last jumbo post and I think that I would be dissapointed with X2. Of course I dont expect a game like Iwar, but I don't want a Frelancer and I think that X2 is nos so good as the web site reads... <!-- s:| --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_neutral.gif" alt=":|" title="Neutral" /><!-- s:| -->
