I did lose a wingmen to LDS leaving a station. He died hitting an asteroid. I am not sure what we can do about that. But the dropped waypoint when wingmen die is very helpful for figuring out what happened. Be sure to double back right away.

Hi folks,

I am following this forum already a while, and I am glad to see that i-war is still alive.

I reinstalled recently EoC on my new laptop, to check out the new mod.

Laptop specs
HP pavillion
Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 @1.66 GHz
Clockfreq 981 MHz
2 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce GO 7400 256 MB
OS Windows XP
Media Center edition
Service pack 2

Running the game windowed, I started the mining setup

I too lost twice a wingman
Once while I moved my wingman to an asteroid while he was docked to my ship. Yes docked to my ship as one of the miners, "Stone chopper" seems not to be equipped with a LDS.
I was moving in autopilot to an asteroid base and when arriving at the base, i got the message I lost my wingman, probably by hitting the numerous small rocks floating around the base. So now I fly manually if another ship is docked on my ship.

The second time I lost one of science ships while he tried to follow me from one asteroid base to the next one.
Getting to there , my ship went in lds through the roid, my wingman tried the same but crashed in stead on the roid.

After reloading from a save file, I tried to repeat the actions, I did to come to the same result, but this time my wingman succeeded in following me.

Anyway flying through objects in lds is not what ought to be. Normally th ship should evade the roid before going in lds.

So far no other anomalies detected.

greetings

Yeah, I think the wingmen are hitting asteroids while leaving the station. The best choice is to pilot clear of the asteroids before starting LDS.

I am adding a save game feature that will auto save when you arrive near a station. If players lose a wingman while leaving a station, they can stop and load the save. They can also load the save if they hit an asteroid when arriving at a station, which should not happen, but it is possible as they are randomly placed. That should remove the pain of wingman loss, without giving up the scenery.

Why is it that I can start a new game, then proceed to attack and destroy every single com-capable ship (light blue contacts), and no one and nothing turns red? But, if I attack a station escort or NPC escort, I get a hostile response?

I spent a few hours last night (deadly start), and flew around Alcuin, Bedalov, and Emerald destroying refuelers, freighters, fences, weapon's dealers and anyone else who would answer a comms. Not one single red contact until I attacked NPC escorts. Then the escorts would get to a certain hull damage lvl, and LDS away..leaving the NPC freighters, pods and everything else behind.

Yeah, sorry, that is a feature that is not done yet. The PS AI does nothing by default. So the ships do nothing. Not any different than if you shoot up one set of transports at an standard EoC station, the other escort ships ignore you. I did code a distress call feature, which will be used in this case. When you attack a ship, it calls for distress and nearby escort type ships will respond. The stations will get the same feature.

I am also adding an option so the asteroid fields can be turned off, if you don't want to steer around them, or if they are causing frame rate issues.

Shouldn't there be a hit to reputation as well? Reputation seems waaaay too easy to manipulate for a few credits and a handshake. =)
